FIELD REPORT
Winter Solstice Traverse
Nine hours and fourteen minutes of daylight. We used all of them. The route follows the Sierra crest between two passes, descending on the east side in darkness that arrived exactly when the forecast said it would.

The solstice traverse is an annual habit. This was the fourth consecutive year. Each time the route has been slightly different — snow conditions, partners, starting time — but the intention is the same.
After the solstice, every day is longer than the last. This is reliable and good.
